Little Sunblossom Seasons Table Puppet
Creating Seasonal Handwork with Christine Culbert
Two Live Zoom Sessions July 13 & 14, 2024 1-3pm Central
Little Sunblossom would love to come to your summer seasons table bringing her warmth, light and colorful blooms. She is a sturdy table puppet made from natural wool felt and stands about six inches high. In two 2-hour zoom sessions we will each learn to make a Little Sunblossom puppet. She can live on your seasons table or might even inspire a summer story or puppet play! This workshop is intended for beginners as well as for more experienced stitchers.
**Earn 4 CE hours for participating in the LIVE workshop. Working with the recording will not count towards a certificate. Registrants of the class will receive a link to complete a feedback assessment as part of CE credit.
Details of the Workshop Content
In this workshop we will work with beautiful natural materials, our imaginations and our warm hearts and hands to create Little Sunblossom. The basic stitches we will use are the running stitch, back stitch, and the blanket stitch. In the first session we will sew together the puppet body and head. In the second class, we will create Little Sunblossom’s flower cape and sew on her hair and blossom cap. As in the mood of a traditional sewing circle we will sew together, get to know one another and even learn a song that Little Sunblossom likes to sing. We will consider the sacred work of the hands in creating things of beauty for young children.

About the Instructor
Christine Culbert completed her Waldorf teacher training in 1977. Since then she has had the great fortune of working for many years at the Chicago Waldorf School as a Parent-Child teacher and lead teacher in the Bluebells mixed age kindergarten. She was also on the faculty of the Arcturus teacher training in Chicago, (now Waldorf Teacher Institute),and served as coordinator of the Early Childhood Teacher Training Program for three years. Her love of handwork has been a golden thread running throughout her life as a mother of two daughters and as an early childhood educator of children and adults. In recent years, Christine developed a handwork studio in her home called The Moon Sees Me Studio. She loves to create Waldorf inspired toys, seasons table friends, and table puppets for use in storytelling and puppetry. Her work can be seen on instagram @themoonseesmestudio. Her passion is to share the joy of handwork with others.

Tuition: $90 each or $72 each for groups of five or more.

Refund Policy: Fees will be refunded in full up to 7 days prior to the start of the course, and at 50% if student cancels enrollment less than a week in advance. Fees are nonrefundable after the start of the course.
