Circle of Hands

A Beginners Hand-Sewing Course with Mindy Upton of Blue Sky Craft Studio

Once-monthly, January through June of 2023

Our recent Boulder LifeWays training group has been delighted to work with Mindy and we are delighted to extend the opportunity to you!

Grab a cup of tea, your thread and needle, and gather online for this relaxing, once-monthly handwork circle. Nourish your soul while learning the basics of sewing and embroidery through inspiring projects in a circle of camaraderie. Become more practiced with simple stitches and build your repertoire to begin creating your own projects!

*This course is offered as an enriching experience for parents, care providers and educators, but is not available for CE hours.

How Will This Course Work

This course meets over Zoom once monthly on Sunday afternoons, 3-4:30pm CST.

We will meet:

  • January 22, February 19, March 19, April 16, May 21, and June 11.

Participants will receive email communication from Mindy about upcoming project ideas, lists of materials, and/or patterns and instructions needed for class. Mindy strives to create beautiful crafts that suit multiple skill levels or levels of desire, with upcycled and simple materials that you may have around the house. Materials or supplies may still need to be purchased, if you are new to sewing, and each participant is responsible for procuring their own supplies.

To preserve a spirit of community and a shared, live experience, we will not be recording sessions of this course.

Details of the Course Content

Mindy will plan projects for each session, but also desires to have a dynamic experience in which the Circle may choose from a few different options, based on what suits their interests or that of the children in their care.

February 19th- Dancing Elf Finger Puppets

Wintry Greetings, crafters! At our next crafting circle we will create a Dancing Elf Finger Puppet! A delightful craft for growing on the skills that we learned in our first class. They are useful for lap puppet shows, birthdays, and great for the story, “The Elves and the Shoemaker.”

Join me once again to create a circle of hand-working friends, sing some seasonal songs and use thread a needle to connect heart and hand.

Subsequent months’ content TBA
