Nahidia Henry, Student Services Coordinator

My name is Nahidia Henry, and I am a native of Saint Lucia, a beautiful Caribbean island. I moved to the United States twenty years ago and now call sunny Florida home. My passion for children has been a constant throughout my life, shaping both my personal and professional journey.

At fourteen, I discovered my love for working with children, and by seventeen, I was teaching in the classroom. Eager to expand my knowledge, I studied teacher education at Sir Arthur Lewis Community College in Saint Lucia. After seven years of working with children, I moved to Brooklyn, New York, where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts and Sciences with a concentration in Childhood Development and Mathematics.

Twelve years ago, I became a mother, a transformative experience that deepened my understanding of childhood development. My search for the best educational approach for my son led me to Waldorf Education, where I developed a deep appreciation for Rudolf Steiner’s holistic pedagogy. To further enrich my expertise, I completed an introductory training with Pikler Loczy USA on respectful infant and toddler care, followed by the Early Childhood Fundamentals Course with LifeWays North America. In 2025, I am excited to begin my Early Childhood Certificate program.

As an Early Childhood Specialist, I am dedicated to nurturing young children through purposeful activities and a warm, gentle approach. I currently work with a wonderful family, supporting their delightful three-year-old through nature-based learning and Steiner-inspired education. Outdoor exploration and play-based activities foster creativity, imagination, and holistic development in my work.

Beyond childhood education, I have a deep love for nature. Growing up, I found joy in the outdoors—playing in the rivers, climbing trees, and connecting with animals. These experiences instilled in me a lifelong reverence for nature. I believe that immersing children in the natural world nurtures their sense of wonder, freedom, and connection to their environment, supporting their growth into balanced, resilient adults.
