How Will This Course Work
Each Wednesday, a new lesson on child development from birth to three will open with a variety of learning activities. Each multimedia lesson is filled with practical care suggestions for both parents and childcare providers or teachers and includes:
- Inspiring written material with a wealth of photos
- Lively videos
- Links to further reading and resources
- A rich written discussion forum with Rahima and fellow students from all over the world
- A live video conference call with Rahima to ask your questions

Learn on your own time and at your own pace. Lessons are sent each Wednesday and then are always accessible for ongoing reference. Childcare providers and early childhood teachers needing continuing education will earn a certificate for 12 hours through their active participation in and completion of the course by April 29, 2023.

Details of the Course Content
Rahima draws from her life-long work as a midwife, Waldorf early childhood teacher, LifeWays childcare provider and parenting educator to share a new lesson with you each week:
Week 1: Birth and the Process of Coming into the Body
Includes vertical and horizontal streams of development, the baby’s experience of birth, postpartum resources for mothers, and much more
Week 2: Infants—From Horizontal to Vertical in the First Year
Developing and protecting the senses, freedom of movement, being with an infant, infants in childcare settings, working toward rhythm, and more
Week 3: Toddlers—Talking, Playing, Saying “I” and Becoming Social
Learning through imitation, the development of language and thinking, stages of play, creating an enriched environment, providing social guidance, and more

About the Instructor
Rahima Baldwin Dancy is internationally known as the author of You Are Your Child’s First Teacher on Steiner’s indications from birth through age six, which has been translated into nine languages. She worked for many years as a midwife and childbirth activist before becoming a Waldorf early childhood teacher and parenting educator. She also was co-director of Rainbow Bridge LifeWays program for children ages one to five years and was a founding board member of LifeWays North America.

Refund Policy: Fees will be refunded in full up to 7 days prior to the start of the course, and at 50% if student cancels enrollment less than a week in advance. Fees are nonrefundable after the start of the course.
